vocations

You have been created for a mission: a unique call, for this time and place, and for a particular purpose. The Lord wills that each of us discover that 'call', in order that we might be fully alive in Christ Jesus.

You have been created for a mission:
called to follow Jesus and to give yourself to others
in a way that only you can.

We are here to inspire you to go deeper,
to answer your questions around vocation, prayer, and discernment,
to take the next steps in following your unique call.

It is Jesus

that you seek

when you dream of happiness;

He is waiting for you

when nothing else

you find satisfies you.

"Life with Christ is a wonderful adventure"

Everyone has a vocation - a calling from God to live their life in a certain way. Every person has received a particular mission, placed on their heart by God, and it is Christ's desire that we would discover what that looks like and live it out day-to-day to the best of our abilities.

St John Paul II spoke tirelessly about this adventure - this desire of Christ for us to come alive in a new way and set foot on this path less travelled, and to recommit ourselves to the possibility that whatever Christ has in store for us, it is a

wonderful adventure

What is

Discernment?

Priesthood

The call to priesthood is an invitation to take part more fully in the life and ministry of Jesus. This call is discovered in a variety of ways, including prayer, participation in the life of the Church, and involvement with the People of God. The thought of being a priest may be one that has lingered in your mind for a long time.

Sometimes the pull is strong and other times, not so strong; but, it keeps coming back. Alternatively, you may have had a powerful experience in your life that raised the priesthood as something you ought to do. Either way you have the sense that maybe you are being called to something remarkable, to the priesthood. If you believe you have heard God calling you to become a priest, don’t ignore it. Instead, take the time to consider what God is asking of you; pray about it, and listen for God’s response.

Some know when they are very young that they want to become a priest; others realise it later in life, sometimes after getting a degree, starting a career, or even after having spent some time in the workforce.

Some who hear God’s call to the priesthood act on it right away, but most, like the prophet Samuel and Apostle Andrew, need a little encouragement.

Discernment is the first step in coming to know if the Lord is calling you to serve him as a priest. Discerning a vocation is hard work, no doubt about it, and prayer is a must to help you seek out quiet in an otherwise noisy world. It can be especially tough if you've just begun to give thought to the priesthood.
